Last time we wrote about our blogging woes, we focused on indexing and Google Search Console’s (GSC) apparent disdain for Google’s own blogging platform. Well, things got even funnier after we googled some more about that annoying redirect error that has been preventing all our posts from being indexed. By ‘funny’, of course, we don’t mean something causing a hearty laugh, but rather the kind of mad shriek of despair that signals a breaking point. This lead us to do the unthinkable - return to WordPress.

Blog Stats: Traffic Sources

We’ve recently activated Google Analytics on all our Blogger blogs, and the results were… interesting.

Our AIFAMS Wiki

Before we created the The Indie Cats of Ulthar blog (TICOU), we had wanted to make a site with all the information about the world of An Introduction to the Fine Art of Monster Slaying . We don’t mean the Making Of posts or the Our Books page , but a wiki, like the ones made by several fandoms, where you can find short bios of the characters, important objects and locations. We had a vision for how it should look, but using a blog template didn’t seem feasible at the time, so we abandoned the idea. However, we later found out about Google Sites and the AIFAMS Wiki was born.

Divine Punishment 5: An Eye for An Eye

Sitting on a chair in the bookshop’s back room, with a cup of hot chamomile tea in her hands, Julia told Paul - that was the name of the bookseller - everything she’d learned so far and he listened as if he didn’t think she was crazy. Well, that makes at least one of us.

Zoe was still crying when Julia got to her place. They had already been to her eye doctor, who had been as shocked as the two of them when he saw what had happened to his patient a little over a week after her last appointment. He hadn’t been able to provide any explanation for her sudden blindness. Even more troubling - he didn’t think it was reversible. Julia had held Zoe’s hand while he talked, not just for comfort, but because she was terrified of being left alone.

Blogging: Indexing Woes

We could apologize for writing about blogging again, but let’s face it, no one apart from us is reading this. Today, we’ll be focusing on our indexing issues. Most of this post is about Google Search Console, one of the gatekeepers aspiring bloggers must overcome to show up in online search results (the others being Microsoft’s Bing and whatever algorithmic border separates relevant results from random stuff on DuckDuckGo).

Divine Punishment 3: Karma

Julia watched with horrified fascination as the flesh slowly turned a rotting black and then started to recede, as if something were eating it from within. Some of it fell in gooey lumps, taking the suddenly unsupported bones with them. She remembered an old episode of CSI: Las Vegas in which the team had found a liquefied corpse. So that’s how it happens. Except, the owner of the rotting hand was still very much alive, and every bit as terrified as one might expect. It was the second time she watched the video, and she had muted it; there was no need to subject herself to the screaming again - the man was barely coherent, and his girlfriend wasn’t much better. A concerned citizen had filmed the whole thing, making ample use of his no doubt expensive iPhone zoom function, and then had sold it to a shady website. The accompanying article claimed that no other news outlet had had the courage to buy it and accused the mainstream media of suppression, just like they were suppressing info...
