Covers

Our plans for An Introduction to the Fine Art of Monster Slaying have suffered several changes and its covers have changed with them.

These were the original covers for the planned graphic novel series. Only the Lesson One: Vampires cover was used. As you can see, we became a little more adventurous after the first one, but sadly, we never got to use the others. Instead, we had to split everything up, including Lesson One. Initially, Book 1 was split into 6 smaller issues, but then we settled on 4 and that's how it remained for some time.

Then, when we were finally able to put each story in a single volume, this was how they looked.

Finally, we've recently made some changes. The frame is now narrower and the cover panel bigger, though the most noticeable change is probably the font. We liked the previous one, but this one is a lot more legible. We were also surprised to find out how much easier the white letters with a black outline were to read than the ole black letters with white outline, even on a lighter background. See below.

We had already tried to change the basic design with Tim's Winter Adventure, but that file turned out huge. We had to upload the original cover to Canva, paste it on an IG Stories design and download it again as a much smaller file, or we wouldn't have been able to upload it to Kobo, which only allows files up to 5MB for the cover.

We definitely won't be making any experiments with Penny and the Silver Key #4.
